Gastroscopy is a frequently performed procedure that allows direct visualization of the interior of the gastrointestinal tract (esophagus, stomach and duodenum). Gastroscopy is the initial procedure for confirming reflux esophagitis (reflux disease), confirming gastric and duodenal ulcers, but also for detecting gastric and esophageal cancer.
