Fertility preservation in a young patient through advanced laparoscopic treatment of fibroids

Preserving fertility in young patients is one of the most important principles guiding our clinical work. When treating a woman who has not yet given birth, every decision must be made with long-term vision and responsibility. The goal is not only to perform a successful surgical procedure, but to protect the uterus and maintain the possibility of a future pregnancy.
In this case, we performed a complex surgical intervention using advanced laparoscopic techniques, with a clear focus on preserving reproductive function. During the procedure, a total of 25 fibroids were carefully removed. Some of them were very small, measuring approximately 2 mm, yet these minor changes are clinically significant. From experience, we know that even small fibroids can grow over time and later interfere with fertility or pregnancy outcomes.
Fibroids are benign growths of the uterus, but their impact on reproductive health should not be underestimated. Depending on their size, number and location, they can distort the uterine cavity, interfere with embryo implantation, or increase the risk of miscarriage. This is why the decision to remove them is always made on an individual basis, taking into account the patient’s age, reproductive plans and overall medical condition.
By using a laparoscopic approach, we were able to remove all fibroids with high precision while preserving the natural structure of the uterus. This technique allows for minimal tissue trauma, better visualisation during surgery and significantly faster recovery. For the patient, this means less postoperative discomfort, a shorter hospital stay and a quicker return to normal daily activities.
Most importantly, this approach directly supports fertility preservation. In our work at Plodnost, we consistently follow a fertility-sparing treatment philosophy.
