Panel discussion on the occasion of World Rare Disease Day

It is rare to be rare, but you are not invisible.
A significant panel discussion was held at the Primary School “Kole Kaninski” – Bitola on the occasion of the World Day of Rare Diseases, where speakers, medical experts and affected families shared their stories and knowledge about the challenges faced by people with rare diseases.We were honored that Dr. Margarita Kambovska, a pediatrician at the Plodnost Hospital, was part of the panel as an expert speaker. She spoke about the importance of early diagnosis, appropriate medical care and a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of rare diseases in children.Simona Joveska, a person with a rare disease, who spoke about the challenges she faces in everyday life, and Nikolina Petrovska, a parent of a child with a rare disease, who spoke about the struggle of families for better support and conditions, also shared their experiences at the panel.The event was supported by Mayor Dr. Toni Konjanovski and Deputy Mayor Bojan Bojkovski, who emphasized that institutions have an obligation to create better conditions for people with rare diseases and their families.Rare diseases may be rare, but the people who live with them are not invisible. Therefore, as a society, we must show empathy, solidarity and advocate for better medical and social conditions for everyone.
