The Neonatology Department offers state-of-the-art conditions for the treatment of healthy newborns and semi-intensive care, which includes the use of state-of-the-art medical equipment as well as educated staff. The mother / child system (rooming in) is implemented in the department.
In the days after birth, newborns are given ultrasound and clinical screening of the hips, screening for hypothyroidism, echocardiographic and ultrasound examination of the CNS, treatment of postpartum jaundice, administration of BCG and Hepatitis B vaccine. Within the department there is modern laboratory diagnostics as well as the possibility for application of digital X-ray diagnostics.
The department has a special space for isolation of newborns with postpartum infections and their appropriate professional and timely treatment with adequate therapy, as well as 24-hour monitoring. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art transport incubators for newborns as well as a highly sophisticated, own ambulance transport vehicle available 24 hours a day. The semi-intensive care has 3 incubators with accompanying equipment for intensive care (infusiomas, perfusors, monitors, photo lamps, warmers, herb, ultrasound device).
There is a clinic in the neonatology department where the newborns are permanently monitored in their growth and development. The neonatology team is composed of three neonatologists and highly educated medical staff.
Recently, a symposium on microinvasive surgery in gynaecology and obstetrics in Macedonia was held in Skopje at the Holiday Inn Hotel, attended by international speakers.
Dr. Tashe Trpchevski, a prominent specialist, delivered a lecture accompanied by slides and video presentations, sharing the experiences of Hospital Plodnost in applying micro-invasive surgery—laparoscopy and hysteroscopy—to treat gynaecological conditions.
Simultaneously, Dr. Hristijan Trpchevski performed a live demonstration of a surgical procedure directly from the operating room in the hospital in Bitola. The surgery involved a patient with a gynaecological condition and included the removal of the uterus and lymph nodes.
“I am thrilled that this is the first live presentation of such a complex surgery in Macedonia, broadcast directly from the operating room. The procedure involved removing lymph nodes near blood vessels, a challenging and intricate operation. First, I must emphasize that very few gynaecologists in Macedonia perform such procedures laparoscopically. Second, this is the first time this complex and delicate surgery has been broadcast live to a large audience of experts in this field. Having the courage—and I would even say audacity—to present this technology to competent professionals who understand the intricacies of this field demonstrates mastery of the technique, as well as the skill and knowledge required for its execution.
We aim to share our knowledge and experience with other colleagues interested in this field. At the same time, we want to assure and inform our peers that Hospital Plodnost has become a reference center for what is known as advanced laparoscopic surgery. In the future, I hope live broadcasts of surgeries will become our standard practice at other symposiums, sessions, and congresses,” said Dr. Hristijan Trpchevski, an expert in endoscopic microinvasive surgery.

“Last week was very dynamic at Hospital Plodnost. 10 hysteroscopic and 12 laparoscopic surgeries were performed to remove ovarian cysts, 4 of which ended with total removal of the uterus. In one case, a complete removal of the lymph glands in the small pelvis for endometrial cancer. There was also one unusual laparoscopic pectopexy – lifting the vaginal walls for the pectineal ligament of the pubic bone in a patient with so-called Vault prolapse, after classical hysterectomy.”
“We will inform you more about this operation, which in Macedonia is only performed here and in a few advanced laparoscopic centers abroad, as the latest method for which initial experiences are still being gathered. We are waiting for the outcome of the patient’s recovery. The first two were excellently corrected. There are very few publications of this type of operation in the world and initial experiences are being collected. If we have a higher frequency, our contribution will be significant” said Dr. Hristijan Trpchevski, head of the endoscopic surgery department.

Last year, we removed uterus weighing 1200 grams. Laparoscopists which remove uterus weighing over 1000 grams are called “Lions-laparoscopists”. Usually, these uteruses are operated in classic way with an operative incision. In our hospital, this is done laparoscopically.
The patient left the hospital in two days.

The laparoscopy surgical team of Hospital Plodnost led by Dr. Hristijan Trpcevski, performed a total removal of the uterus with sentinel marking of the lymph glands with indocyanine green, in a 73-year-old patient. Lymph glands in the lesser pelvis were also removed.
“The main problem in this case is that the patient is short, weighing 130 kg. Excess weight makes such patients more difficult to be operated laparoscopically. We successfully performed this procedure laparoscopically, which is a great benefit for the patient despite the huge body mass. With classic surgery, recovery would have been very long. The patient left the hospital on the third postoperative day. Although the laparoscopic approach in this case was more difficult for us, for the patient it is certainly much easier. Our goal is to relieve patients. We used the advantage of laparoscopic marking of the lymph glands with indocyanine green contrast, a method which in North Macedonia is applied only in Hospital Plodnost.” said Dr. Hristijan Trpcevski.
This is just another great success in the series of recent successes and new methods, which in our country are only performed in Hospital Plodnost.

The delivery was done by caesarean section. The patient got through pregnancy very well considering her age.
Your dreams become reality – only in Hospital Plodnost.

The medical team, led by Dr. Hristijan Trpcevski, successfully removed the entire fibroid in one act without any complications. Otherwise, fibroids smaller than 3 cm in the uterine cavity are already a routine procedure for us. This fibroids size of 5 cm is a “cut off” for hysteroscopic removal. The patient left the hospital after only 5 hours.
This is a confirmation that we have reached the upper limit, i.e. we are among the best for hysteroscopic removal of myomas. The One and the only in the region, Hospital Plodnost.
[…]This is not our first case of patients over 50 years of age becoming mothers by in vitro procedures. “So far, three patients at the age of 50, two at the age of 52 and one at the age of 51, have become pregnant through IVF procedures in our hospital and given birth to a child.” said Prim. D-r. Tase Trpcevski, after the great success they achieved together with the IVF team at Hospital Plodnost.
The happy mother, who shared her joy with the public, said that her wishes really become a reality, but it requires perseverance, faith and of course, a good medical team. She expressed special gratitude to the IVF team of Hospital Plodnost, who were with her during every phase of the process, from pregnancy to delivery.
For the first time in Macedonia, the sentinel lymph nodes (the first glands closest to cancer) were marked and removed in an 85-year-old woman with endometrial cancer by laparoscopic procedure, which removed the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries.
We first performed preoperative lymph node mapping with ISG 99 / isocyanide grin / and laparoscopic detection using highly sophisticated equipment (gamma camera and intraoperative 3D navigation). In that way we improved the visualization of the sentinel lymph nodes during the operation, enabling more precise localization, ie more accurate anatomical localization. This way, we remove all the somatic lymph nodes affected by cancer, both in the small pelvis (pelvic lymph nodes) and outside it (paraaortalni and paracavalni). In this way we determine the surgical stage of the disease, avoiding morbidity from complete lymphadenectomy.
The patient, although 85 years old, endured the operation well, which lasted 2.5 hours. He left the hospital on the third postoperative day. On the day of the operation, she was mobilized because she had only 3 small cuts of 5 mm on her abdomen. This is the latest trend in modern laparoscopic technology. I am really proud that we applied it for the first time in our country, said Dr. Hristijan Trpcevski.
[…]The most common surgeries that the laparoscopic technique can do are,
Colon surgery
Anti-reflux surgery
Gall-bladder surgery
Stomach Surgery
The main goal of Laparoscopic surgery is to diagnose and identify any abdominal or pelvic issue by examining the organs in the two specific areas.
Advantages of Laparoscopic Surgery
Now that we have discussed the Laparoscopic surgery procedure, it’s time to break down all the advantages of this procedure.
Fast Recovery and Less Pain
One of the essential benefits of Laparoscopic surgery is that you do not feel any pain because the surgeons usually give their patients general anesthesia. And even after the surgery is done, the patients do not have to take painkillers because the recovery process is speedy. It is one of the main reasons people prefer this technique over traditional open surgery.
Another benefit of the Laparoscopic technique is that the surgeon does not have to cut muscle to get to the specific surgery site where the primary diagnosis happens. If the surgeon does not have to cut muscle, it means that there is very minimal tissue cutting and scarring that recovers very fast.
However, you need to make sure that the hospital you select does not use the Laparoscopic conventional technique because it can increase the recovery time and scars. You can check out Plodnost, which is the best hospital for Laparoscopic surgery in Macedonia.
Short Hospital Stays
Standard laparoscopic surgery takes one-hour maximum and does not involve any invasive operational techniques, so the patient does not have to stay in the hospital sometimes. And even if the laparoscopic surgery is more than one hour, the patients do not say more than a day in the hospital.
No to Minimal Internal Infections
Laparoscopic surgery does not involve deep cuts or incisions, which protects the internal organs and tissues from any kind of infection that a conventional surgery potentially causes. So, it is one of the safest procedures for the diagnosis of pain or any other issue in the abdomen or pelvis area.
Final Words
Here we want to conclude our article about the benefits of laparoscopic surgery. And we hope that you will take our suggestion and check out Hospital Plodnost for the best Laparoscopic surgery in Macedonia.
However, there is too much misconception associated with IVF, so we will talk about the 12 things you should know about IVF success rates today. We will also talk about the best hospital to get fertility treatment with more than 54% IVF success rates.
1. IVF can be a time-consuming procedure.
IVF or in vitro fertilization involves extracting the eggs out of a woman’s body and combining them with sperms, which can be time-consuming. Even though a woman’s egg cycle is 28 days, the patient has to get hormonal stimulant shots to produce more mature eggs every 10-12 days.
2. Age can impact IVF success rates.
Age can highly impact the IVF success rates because the fertility rate starts to decrease in the 30s, and similarly, in the 40s, it is very difficult to get pregnant. So, the best age to get the IVF treatment is in the 20s or early 30s.
3. Frozen embryos are better.
Most people do not know that frozen embryos can enhance the IVF success rates up to 50% because they are more stable and ready for survival.
4. IVF can be of different types.
Another important thing to know about IVF treatment is that there are many types of this technique, including natural IVF, mild IVF, and high drug-intensive IVF. The doctor will suggest you a suitable IVF after examining your condition.
5. IVF is not taboo.
First, we want to tell you that women’s fertility decreases with time because the quality of eggs reduces, so couples tend to seek IVF treatment more than you can imagine. According to statistics, more than 12% of women between 15 to 49 have fertility issues.
6. Be ready for multiple cycle treatments.
If you think of IVF treatment, you need to be ready for multiple cycles as it is not a one-time procedure. As the number of IVF cycles increases, the chances of pregnancy and fertility also increase.
7. Likelihood of multiple pregnancies.
And another important thing that you should know about IVF success rates is that there is a high likelihood of multiple pregnancies involving twins or triplets.
8. There is no 100% surety.
You need to keep in mind while going for IVF treatment that you won’t get 100% surety with this technique or any other fertility method. The average IVF success rate is up to 35%.
9. Dads are involved in the IVF procedure.
Most people have a common misconception that only women get emotional anxiety during the IVF procedure; however, the darts go to the same.
10. There are additional fertility treatments than IVF as well.
If you do not want to go for IVF, other fertility treatments can be considered. And if you want to improve IVF success rates can go for additional treatment options like PGS, PGD, Embryoscope, etc.
11. Your IVF efforts are worth it.
The bottom line is that all your IVF efforts are worth it, no matter how draining or expensive they are, so don’t let anybody tell you that you are just wasting your time and money. It is very brave of you to try everything possible to make your family.
12. Hospital selection can highly impact IVF success rates.
You need to select a highly reputable hospital for your IVF treatment because it can impact IVF success rates. We highly recommend you Hospital Plodnost, based in Macedonia, with a more than 54% success rate in IVF and other fertilization treatment as they have the best embryologists and modern technology.

Maintain a Healthy Weight
Excess weight can significantly decrease your chance of success with IVF. Maintaining a healthy weight is the easiest way to enhance fertility and improve chances for conception through an in vitro fertilization treatment. This may sound like common sense, but there are many people who overeat when they find out they have infertility issues because it brings the emotional pain of the infertility diagnosis to a physical level.
The best thing you can do for yourself if undergoing an IVF treatment is maintain your weight and focus on good health practices so that you feel as healthy as possible both physically and emotionally!
Optimize Sperm Health
The first step to optimizing sperm health is identifying any potential issues and correcting them as quickly as possible. Some of the most common causes for low sperm count, slow-moving or sluggish sperm are:
Tobacco use
Alcohol consumption
Excessive caffeine intake (more than three cups a day)
Marijuana usage
Long term exposure to pesticides or other toxins
If you are experiencing any of these issues, it is best to get them corrected before undergoing an IVF treatment at PLODNOST Hospital. Fortunately for men who have already started trying through natural methods, improving sperm health can be fairly simple and inexpensive! All that is needed is a good multivitamin (aim for a higher zinc content) and some dietary changes.
Reduce Your Stress
Another important aspect of IVF success is reducing your stress. While this may seem like an impossible task, there are many things that you can do to combat the high levels of anxiety and depression associated with an infertility diagnosis. Some simple tips include:
Exercise regularly (any exercise will be beneficial)
Eat a healthy diet with less caffeine, alcohol, and processed sugars
Quit smoking if applicable
Limit the amount of time you are spending on your laptop or phone (try to avoid large amounts of screen time)
If you can manage to reduce your stress effectively before starting IVF treatment at PLODNOST Hospital then it is likely that you will have an easier time with the treatment itself.
[…]The fertility clinic should offer services that are tailored to your needs. If you have specific questions, then make sure they can answer them with ease and knowledge.
There are some clinics that specialize in certain issues like male infertility or IVF. Make sure the fertility clinic near you offers what is necessary for the treatment of your condition. They will also need to have the proper equipment and resources for your treatment.
Some fertility clinics also offer support services like in vitro fertilization pre-screening or counseling, which will be beneficial for those who need a little extra help getting through this process.
Before you make an appointment with any clinic near you, make sure they can provide what it is that you need.
Cost and Payment Plans
The cost and payment plans can vary at every fertility clinic. There are some which offer a sliding scale fee based on your income, while others may have an all-inclusive pricing package
I suggest that you do not just pick the first one that offers what is listed above but also consider their prices before making any appointments. The average price for a fertility clinic near you can range from $300-500 per month, which includes all treatments and medications.
Is there a payment plan available? If so, what are the terms of it like? You want to be able to afford treatment at your chosen fertility clinic while maintaining other aspects of your life as well. It is important that when looking for a fertility clinic near you, you consider the payment plans that are available.
Newborn Baby Care Tips
1. Take care of yourself
Many new mommies neglect their health, but it’s a major disaster. Kindly keep in mind that mommy’s health is also equally important as the newborn. Eat healthily and drink plenty of water with some good sleep. It helps you to keep yourself fresh and focus on newborn baby care.
Many mommies complain that they can’t sleep with a newborn. So set your routine to sleep with your baby routine. It helps maintain your energy, and you will have a good time caring for your newborn baby.
2. Know when to seek additional help
It would help if you kept in mind that parenting is a challenging face of life. So instead of taking all the burden, accept the additional help. It allows you to deal with troubles and adequately take care of the new baby. PHI Hospital PLODNOST provides the best neonatal and pediatric service where the best consultants are available to help you.
3. Learn to hold and feed
Since a neonate has a delicate neck and head, many new mommies are more concerned about holding the baby in a position that soothes their babies. A comfortable position in which they can give kangaroo treatment to their neonate and provide them with skin-to-skin contact is recommended. Also, the way you hold your baby should make feeding easy for the baby. If feeding makes your breasts tender, try a cold pack to get rid of soreness.
4. Go with the flow
Don’t burden yourself and go with the flow. Instead, set the time for naps, crying spells, and nursing sessions for managing your day and night routines with the newborn baby. Try to listen and recognize the sound of the baby’s cry. If your baby cries too much, swaddle your fussy baby to soothe him. And do whatever is best for your neonate.
5. Establish visiting rules
Newborns are sensitive. It would help if you take care of every small and big thing happening around them. So, set the visiting rules for every friend and loved one who came to your house and admired the baby. Let them know how to handle the baby and ensure that they wash their hands before holding newborns.
6. Set your visiting times to relax
Set your outdoor times with your newborn baby to change the environment. It helps to change the mood of mommies and brings more energy to them. Ensure that you take proper precautionary measures for taking your baby outside
7. Appreciate your newborns
These days are temporary, and newborns grow too fast. So don’t overstress every time. Instead of that, spend quality time and appreciate their actions.
Takeaway
You can make your post-partum period more relaxing by following the newborn baby care tips that we have mentioned in this write-up. Apply these tips and make every moment enjoyable.
Good Luck To New Mommies!

[…]Water Birth in Macedonia- A Relaxing Modern Method
One of the amazing experiences that a woman is destined to feel is childbirth. Perhaps this natural action can bring forth some challenges for moms-to-be. Yet, the wonderful feeling of giving birth to a baby encourages the woman to face these challenges with a smile on her face and to welcome the newborn warm-heartedly.
But the process of childbirth can become less stressful by modifying the environment. Luckily, we can modify the environment by providing warm water in a pool to carry out the delivery process. Fast forward today, several methods are practiced for giving the safest and best experience of childbirth to mothers. And water birth is the unique method chosen by many moms-to-be. In this modern method, the process of childbirth is carried out in a warm or lukewarm bath. If your gynecologist has recommended you water birth, you can choose the best hospital equipped with the latest technology that offers birthing pool service in Macedonia. Luckily, Macedonia has the PHI Hospital PlodNost that has adopted this process to make childbirth an easy process. PZU Hospital PLODNOST has a team of experts, a warm pool, and all the other facilities that you need for the water birth in Macedonia.
Facts about Water Birth in Macedonia
Less Stressful
We are all well acquainted with the fact that a fetus spends nine months in the amniotic sac.
Since they are accustomed to aquatic environments, waterbirth makes it less stressful and gentle for babies to arrive in the world. Moreover, mothers do not need analgesia or epidural injection to combat the pain of childbirth.
Smooth Labour Contractions
What’s better than experiencing softer labor contractions for a mother? Macedonia has licensed healthcare practitioners working at PHI Hospital PlodNost who aim to make waterbirth easier for mother and baby. The effect of gravity is counteracted and this makes it easy for mothers to give birth to neonates.
Mental and Physical Relaxation
Since water provides a calming and relaxing experience, many women choose to give birth in water. Water makes them physically and mentally relaxed and this way they can better concentrate on the delivery process.
Control Hypertension and improve Oxygen Supply
One of the major complications related to childbirth is high blood pressure. So water birth is great for lowering high blood pressure.
Their blood circulation improves and as a result, the uterine muscles get sufficient oxygen required for uterine contractions. It not only benefits mothers by decreasing their pain but also the baby can get more oxygen than he needs at the time of birth.
Takeaway
Waterbirth includes the submersion of women in water to ease the delivery process and contractions. Macedonia is among those countries that have adopted this process and are contributing to improving women and child health in the best possible way.
What is Neonatology?
Neonatology is a subspecialty of pediatrics that focuses on the care of newborn infants with special attention to those who are born prematurely, have medical problems, or show signs of having developmental issues.
Factors to Consider When Selecting a Neonatology Provider
There are several factors to consider when choosing the best neonatology care in Macedonia for your child.
Here is a list of many of them:
-The price range; how much does it cost? Is there financial assistance available if you cannot pay yourself, or do they offer an affordable payment plan?
-What specialties and skills are available? Do they have pediatricians, neonatologists, or other specialties on staff in order to meet your child’s needs?
-What is the emergency plan if there are any complications during delivery that require immediate care at another facility? Are arrangements being made for transportation via ambulance to a nearby hospital with an appropriate medical team for neonatal care?
-Is there a maternity unit on-site, or nearby that you can use if your child is born prematurely and needs special medical attention?
-What are the qualifications of their staff members including doctors, nurses, and other assistants? Do they have additional training in newborn care specifically? For example, some people may have a certification or degree in another area of nursing, but have specialty training as a neonatal nurse.
-What types of equipment are available? Are there incubators, other machines to monitor the baby’s condition and provide the appropriate treatment if needed?
-How many babies can they take at one time? Is it enough for those who may be born prematurely or have complications?
-Do they provide educational sessions for parents and families about how to care for newborns? If so, what kind of topics will you learn about including feeding methods, diaper changing styles that work best for your child’s skin type and age.
-How far in advance do I need to schedule an appointment? Are there emergency appointments available if you have a concern and need to see someone quickly?
-Do they offer any prenatal care or support groups for parents who are expecting their child, such as ultrasounds during pregnancy.
-What is the overall atmosphere of this hospital like including decor, nursing staff friendliness, and helpfulness when speaking with them, and cleanliness?
-What is your standard of care if my child has a medical complication that requires more specialized treatment at another hospital for example.
-Does the facility have an area where siblings can play or watch television as they wait with their mom during labor and delivery, recovery after birth, or any other time while visiting their newborn?
If you have any other questions, I would recommend asking them directly. Many facilities such as ours at PLODNOST Hospital will be more than happy to answer your queries and concerns so you can feel comfortable with the decision you make about where to take your child for care as a new parent.
