Karyotyping: Analysis to discover genetic causes and your fertility

“Every day I work with couples who are facing challenges such as infertility or recurrent miscarriages. I know how many questions and uncertainties these moments bring. That is why I want to talk about karyotyping – a test that allows us to discover what sometimes remains hidden.
Karyotyping is a genetic analysis that examines chromosomes – their number and structure – to detect possible changes that affect fertility,” explains Prim. Dr. Tashe Trpcevski.
How is the analysis performed?
With a peripheral blood sample, we analyze the chromosomes under a microscope, identifying anomalies such as translocations, deletions or an incorrect number of chromosomes.
Who is it intended for?
- Couples who have been facing infertility for a long time
- Women who have had multiple miscarriages
- Patients with genetic abnormalities in their family history
- Individuals with previously diagnosed genetic disorders
Why is it important?
This analysis is a key step in uncovering the causes and guiding towards an appropriate solution.
