A newborn’s first bath is a special moment!

At Plodnost Hospital, the first bath is done in a pleasant environment with water at a temperature of 36-37°C, which is most suitable for the baby’s delicate skin.

Newborns are born with vernix caseosa – a natural, protective layer that keeps the skin hydrated, protects it from bacteria and helps with thermoregulation. Due to its numerous benefits, we bathe babies in the hospital only once or twice during their stay, allowing the vernix to fulfill its natural functions.

After the bath, a light massage follows that relaxes the baby, stimulates circulation and helps him fall asleep easier. Most newborns love this gentle routine that has been proven to provide a sense of security, tenderness and warmth.
