Gynecological Ultrasound

Ultrasound examination (echography) is a non-invasive method for visualizing the uterus and ovaries on a screen using ultrasound waves, widely used in gynecology. It can be performed transabdominally (through the abdomen) or transvaginally (through the vagina). The transvaginal approach offers significant advantages due to higher resolution and closer proximity to the pelvic organs.

The ultrasound examination does not require any special preparation by the patient. It can be performed during a routine gynecological check-up or for any other reason during different phases of the menstrual cycle.

Main indications for gynecological ultrasound examination:

Diagnosis of congenital uterine anomalies – septate, arcuate, bicornuate, unicornuate uterus, etc.
Monitoring the normal menstrual cycle – endometrial changes, tracking ovulation signs.
Folliculometry – ultrasound monitoring of follicle growth and size in the ovary.
