85 years old women gets her senital lymphs with endometrial cancer removed for the first time in Macedonia

The laparoscopic team of Hospital Plodnost led by D-r. Hristijan Trpcevski, with another major success.

For the first time in Macedonia, the sentinel lymph nodes (the first glands closest to cancer) were marked and removed in an 85-year-old woman with endometrial cancer by laparoscopic procedure, which removed the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries.

We first performed preoperative lymph node mapping with ISG 99 / isocyanide grin / and laparoscopic detection using highly sophisticated equipment (gamma camera and intraoperative 3D navigation). In that way we improved the visualization of the sentinel lymph nodes during the operation, enabling more precise localization, ie more accurate anatomical localization. This way, we remove all the somatic lymph nodes affected by cancer, both in the small pelvis (pelvic lymph nodes) and outside it (paraaortalni and paracavalni). In this way we determine the surgical stage of the disease, avoiding morbidity from complete lymphadenectomy.

The patient, although 85 years old, endured the operation well, which lasted 2.5 hours. He left the hospital on the third postoperative day. On the day of the operation, she was mobilized because she had only 3 small cuts of 5 mm on her abdomen. This is the latest trend in modern laparoscopic technology. I am really proud that we applied it for the first time in our country, said Dr. Hristijan Trpcevski.
